Commercial Illustrations

I created illustrations for 4 different authors writing 4 cities, and to describe the city view in their books. They are:

January, Warsaw, Czesław Miłosz 《The Captive Mind》. The quote I chose to draw was describing innocent people dancing and laughing around the bonfire on the Warsaw Castle Square didn’t realize that innocent Jew were suffering in the concentration camps not far away. While the flying petals carrying hope and laughs going with the wind.

July ,Paris, Victor Hugo 《Les Miserables》《Notre Dame de Paris》. I set the view of the monsters from the Notre Dame de Paris, bird’s eye viewing the Eiffel Tower. There are fireworks celebrating the national day.

August, Buenos Aires, Jorge Luis Borges 《JORGE LUIS BORGES: Obras completas》. The author always explored time and universe in literature, so that death is never the end to him. I chose Recoleta Cemetery as the background, and drew old Borges walking along the alley in the pure white resting place, thinking of the past, now and future.

September, Barcelona, Carlos Ruiz Zafon 《La Sombra del Viento》. Autumn is the brightest season in Barcelona, the author went back to mother’s hometown. I restored the street full of falling leaves as the book described, and I used the golden color and snakeskin-like street to show the figure of the wind.

I have created these pieces by  watercolour, colour pencils, acrylic and ink.
